Gwalagwala is a small, intimate game lodge built to host a maximum of 12 people (6 tents). The individually named units nestle discretely under a canopy of trees in the natural bush to ensure solitude and privacy.
Each Tent is built on a wooden platform raised in the trees on sturdy stilts. The lodge is fully electrified & all tents have their own en suite bathroom & private deck. You have a choice of twin or queen sized beds. All bedrooms are fully insect proofed as we are situated in a low risk malaria area.
We have spared no effort to ensure great comfort. The Tents are all equipped with fans for the warm summer days & heaters & electric blankets for those chilly winter nights so that at all times you enjoy a comfortable temperature in your room. We also provide Tea/Coffee facilities, hair dryer, international plug & fridge in each unit to add to your comfort.
For the perfect end to an exciting & fascinating day join us for dinner around the fire in our traditional boma. You may hear the call of Hyaena & Lions as they communicate their intentions to one another while you catch up on the day's events.
At Gwalagwala a day's activities may include:
Early Morning Guided Walks
Big 5 Game drives in open Safari Vehicles on a neighbouring Private Reserve. (One per day this can be early morning or afternoon & early evening.)
Game drives on Gwalagwala in on open vehicle, or
Bird watching.
Walk to our hides and spend a peaceful time watching birds and any animal activity that may occur at the waterholes. Enjoy sundowners as you watch the sun drop behind the majestic Drakensburg Mountains.
